Meet Scherer Construction

James A. "Jim" Crookston is President of Scherer Construction & Engineering of West Florida, LLC, and has been with the firm since 1984. Jim uses his leadership skills to organize and direct all field activities and equipment resources for the West FL office. He also works closely with the design staff overseeing each project from design inception to finished product. Jim’s attention to detail, his ability to anticipate and solve problems combined with his dedication to customer satisfaction has won him praise from both customers and subcontractors. Jim is an Engineering Design graduate of Hoover Technical School in Canton, Ohio, a deacon at Grace Community Church in Brandon, FL, and a proud father of six. Outside the office Jim is an avid bicyclist who enjoys long distance rides.

Clark L. Keator is President of Scherer Construction & Engineering of Central Florida, LLC in Orlando. Clark has been with Scherer Construction & Engineering since 1986 and has total responsibility for the operations of the Orlando office. Clark’s construction experience is well versed with extensive public works as well as private conventional construction projects. Clark received his Bachelor of Building Construction degree in 1978 at the University of Florida. Clark has had three years of architectural design courses, is a State Certified General Contractor and is the qualifying agent for the Central Florida office. His vocation outside the office is with his church, the First Baptist Church in Orlando, where he contributes as a Sunday School teacher and leads a Crown Ministry class.

Douglas W. Wilcox is President of Scherer Construction & Engineering of North Florida, LLC, located in Gainesville. Doug has been with Scherer Construction & Engineering since 1987 and has total responsi- bility for the operations of the Gainesville office. Doug received his Bachelor of Building Construction degree from the University of Florida. Additionally, Doug has extensive course work in Architectural Design. Doug is the qualifying agent for the North Florida office, and has also certified the Gainesville office to perform their own site work. To balance his work life, Doug finds time to give back to the community by participating in the Indian Guide and the Indian Princess program and the Boy Scouts of America.

Ronald K. "Ron" Howell is President of Scherer Construction of Middle GA, LLC in Macon, Georgia. Ron has been very successful in the design/build business for most of his life. He was born into and raised in a family that was active in the construction business. Ron received his Bachelor of Building Construction degree in 1964 at Auburn University. Ron was President and Owner of Hammer & Howell in Tampa, FL for 13 years, and President and Owner of Ron Howell & Associates in Macon, GA for 10 years, both design/build companies with annual revenues for any one year totaling $10,000,000. Ron served as Marketing Director of Scherer Construction for two years before opening the Macon location. Ron is active in his community and church, and enjoys fishing and horseback riding with his grandsons.
